Please Support Our Craft Fairs
The Education Committee is encouraging everyone to attend the CFUW upcoming Christmas Fairs. These Fairs are the main fund raising support for providing bursaries from our
Education Fund. Last year this Fund provided the COBSS Creative Arts Bursary
for $2,000 for Olivia O, a grade 12 student to pursue a degree in writing and film
studies. It funded the CFUW Kelowna Bursary for Engineering at UBCO. Ari K a
fourth year student working towards a Bachelor of Applied Science in
Mechanical Engineering received $2,000 from this Bursary. The Leigh Millar
award a one time award of $1,000 will be awarded to a Okanagan College
student in the Therapist Assistant Diploma this Fall. The Education Fund also
will allow us top up the COBSS Trust fund to help make it more self-sustaining.
The BC Gaming Application also requires that we must do our own CFUW club
fund raising in order to receive a provincial grant. Last year we received $10,000
from Gaming for bursaries.
Spread the word to friends and family to attend our Christmas Fairs.
This is also an excellent time to buy some of our Feminino Coffee as the profits
also go towards our Education Fund.
A big thank you to the CFUW Knitters and Crafters group who work so hard to
provide the many items that make our Christmas Fairs successful.
